Nearby Belturbet town, situated on the side of the river Erne has long been a front runner in Irish Angling. Besides having the benefit of exceptional fishing on the river itself, there are numerous top class lakes within a short drive.

Fishing advice is available from the owner Derek Brown, ex UK angler and chairman of the Fishing commitee of Erne Lakeland Tourism, who has a good knowledge of local waters. Tours of local lakes are available along with up to date information on the major 'Hot Spots' and the best methods of fishing.

There is no closed season for coarse fishing in Ireland so waters may be fished all year round. There is some excellent winter fishing off the jetties in Belturbet itself, with good catches of roach and skimmers. The main fishing though is from April to October, when the good catches of Bream can be had, with fish from 2lb - 7lb. There is good tench fishing, with several locations producing excellent catches as well as superb Pike fishing in many locations all year round.

The main baits used locally are casters, red maggots and worms with brown and white crumb. These can all be ordered direct from Derek Brown and will be waiting for you fresh on your arrival.
